Michael Babeluk studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Vienna (specialising in process engineering) alongside business administration at Vienna University of Economics and Business. After completing this double degree in 1984, he took a postgraduate course in business administration and operations research at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) before spending some time in the financial sector working for an Austrian banking group. In 1987 he joined a patent law firm as a trainee patent attorney, subsequently passing the Austrian qualifying examination for patent attorneys and becoming a representative before the European Patent Office.
Michael Babeluk has been active as an independent patent attorney since 1993. He is a member of the Association of Austrian Patent Agents (ÖPAK), the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI) and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI). Michael Babeluk has also been Vice President of the Association of Austrian Patent Agents since 2003.
